2024 Recent Alumni Service Award
With only five years since his graduation, Aashay S. Doshi has already stepped up as a Carnegie Mellon alumni leader, exemplifying a profound belief in the importance of community and unity and focusing his volunteer efforts on enhancing the university's reputation and network in India and around the globe.
Since his return to Mumbai, India, in 2019, Aashay has played an integral role in the continued growth and development of Carnegie Mellon’s Mumbai Network, consisting of more than 400 alumni, parents, students and friends in the Mumbai metropolitan region. Through his role as president, Aashay has guided the Mumbai Network in hosting more than 40 events and engaging more than 4,000 attendees. These events are a diverse mix of alumni receptions, networking opportunities and speaker series with leading industrialists, startup founders, CMU professors and government officials. In response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aashay orchestrated an ongoing series of webinars with accomplished CMU alumni and others in India who shared their expertise with attendees within the country and the wider Indian diaspora.
Additionally, Aashay gives his time to the Alumni Leadership Group of India. Through the group’s efforts, the CMU Mumbai Network hosts and co-hosts events with other India alumni networks of leading universities in the United States and abroad such as Harvard, Cornell, London School of Economics, New York University, Columbia, Stanford, Michigan and more.
While attending the Tepper School of Business, Aashay served as president of the South Asian Business Association (SABA) and co-chair of the Class of 2019 class gift. As SABA president, he pioneered the Interview Series project, which brings prominent global thought leaders in business, government and industry to CMU for interactive discussions with students. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Excellence in Community Building Award, Tepper Merit Scholarship, Distinguished Service to Tepper Award and Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.
Aashay earned his M.B.A. with an entrepreneurship concentration.
