Chartwells Higher Education is bringing a taste of the islands to campus with the
launch of Ola Ola Bowls, a new Hawaiian-influenced dining concept created by Campus
Executive Chef Tim Howland.

Ola Ola Bowls opens this semester in the Cohon Center’s Marketplace, bringing students an
exciting new option shaped directly by their feedback. When surveyed, 54% of students
expressed interest in Hawaiian cuisine, making this concept a highly anticipated addition to the
campus dining experience.

The vibrant new eatery features a menu inspired by authentic Hawaiian comfort food, with
customizable Loco Moco Bowls at the heart of the concept. Students can build their own bowls
with a base of steamed short-grain rice, a fried egg, and savory brown gravy, paired with
proteins such as a 1/3 lb beef burger patty, Huli-Huli chicken thigh, teriyaki-spiced Beyond
Burger patty, or marinated tofu steak. Toppings like house-made scallion slaw, kimchi, wakame
salad, grilled pineapple, and sesame cucumbers allow for endless flavor combinations.

“Ola Ola represents an exciting new chapter in our campus dining program,” said Chef Tim.
“This Hawaiian-influenced outlet offers a vibrant menu, built around fresh, seasonal ingredients
and bold flavors that appeal to a wide range of dietary preferences. Authentic Hawaiian comfort
classics are made-to-order and customizable to accommodate the most sought-after dietary
and faith-based needs, including vegan, vegetarian, avoiding gluten, and halal options. Loco
Moco bowls, flavorful beverage options, fun desserts & fan favorites like Spam Musubi will be a
welcome and delicious addition to our campus dining community.”

Ola Ola Bowls joins a growing portfolio of innovative dining options on campus designed to
enhance student life and reflect the diverse tastes of the university community. Students can
experience Ola Ola Bowls beginning Friday, August 22nd, in the Cohon Center Marketplace.
