Intensive Russian (I & II)

This intensive course allows students to complete a yearlong elementary Russian program in one semester and proceed to Intermediate Russian. Students who complete this course will acquire the basics of Russian grammar and develop an active vocabulary of approximately 1,000 words. They will learn how to tell simple stories on familiar topics, ask questions, and express their opinions. They will be able to grasp the main ideas of short newspaper articles and understand the gist of straightforward Russian speech. Throughout the course, students will encounter oral, visual, and written content and engage in the interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication. A student with prior experience in Russian must take the placement exam.
