Biography
LinkedIn Profile
At the University of Notre Dame, I pursued a triple major of distinct yet complementary disciplines: economics, concentrating in financial econometrics and asset pricing; applied and computational mathematics and statistics, which gave me the quantitative toolkit to study those problems rigorously; and philosophy, which developed my strengths in logic, argumentation, and clear communication. My undergraduate studies culminated in an award-winning honors thesis that developed new
measures of uncertainty in U.S. monetary policy and traced how that uncertainty moves through the macroeconomy, applying time-series econometrics in Python and MATLAB. In my internships at the U.S. Department of Defense, I built a data validation tool and a mission- planning simulation tool that informed national security decisions, reinforcing my skills in Python, optimization, and statistical analysis. A pivot from defense to quantitative finance may be unusual, but my professional experience and diverse studies prepare me to contribute immediately in a research or strats role. Please feel free to email me at mgallo@andrew.cmu.edu — I look forward to connecting with you!
