Bio

I received my Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Illinois in 1988, and came to Carnegie Mellon University in 1990. In Fall 2012, I was appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the university’s Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

I am a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics; a past member of the Board of Trustees and past President of the Psychometric Society; and a fellow of the American Educational Research Association. I am currently co-chair of the Design and Analysis Committee for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).
