ASCE New Faculty Excellence Award Recognizes Wang's Teaching Achievements

Wang has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching. His pedagogical expertise is evident in courses like Computation and Data Science for Civil and Environmental Engineering, a required undergraduate core course, and Research Skills and Topics in Civil and Environmental Engineering, an elective undergraduate course. Additionally, he imparts knowledge and fosters the academic pursuits of graduate students through the course Molecular Simulation of Materials.

A standout feature of Wang's teaching approach is his ability to create an engaging and stimulating learning environment, resulting in consistently high faculty course evaluation scores for both course content and instructor assessments. Even amid challenges, such as the abrupt shift to online education during the pandemic, Wang exemplifies his adaptability and unwavering dedication to his students' academic growth.

Beyond the classroom, Wang's strong commitment to enhancing engineering education is evident through his active involvement in the Undergraduate Program Committee. His dedication to promoting inclusive computational science education earned him the prestigious Provost's Inclusive Teaching Fellowship in 2020. Collaborating with the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation, he diligently developed approaches that foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students.

As an active member of the ASCE and the faculty advisor for the ASCE Student Chapter, Wang continues to inspire future civil engineers to excel in their chosen field. His recognition with this prestigious award reflects not only his remarkable achievements but also his lasting influence on the next generation of engineering professionals.
