Wang Awarded Smith Fellowship

PhD candidate Yanyu Wang has been awarded the Bradford and Diane Smith Graduate Fellowship. Wang earned her undergraduate and master's degrees in Civil Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.

Advised by Professor Pingbo Tang, she uses simulators to model air traffic to better understand accidents on the runway as well as take-off and landing.

“I am honored to be a recipient of Bradford and Diane Smith Graduate Fellowship,” says Yanyu. “I would like to thank the supporting committee and my advisor, and will continue to focus on my research.”

The Bradford and Diane Smith fellowship was created through the generosity of Bradford Smith, a 1969 graduate of the College of Engineering, and his wife Diane, a 1971 graduate of the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences to help support the graduate studies of highly deserving students in the College of Engineering (CMU).
