Admission to Enrollment-Academic Advisory Center (AAC) - Carnegie Mellon University

Applying to CMU/Dietrich College & Visiting Campus

The Office of Admission receives and reviews your application.  They are the office that can answer your questions about the admission process.  Throughout the year and especially during the month of April, the office schedules tours, information sessions, and class visits on campus.  Once you submit your application, you can track your progress through the admisison process.

May

Later in the month of May, your Academic Advisor will be notified that you have accepted the offer of admission to CMU and the Dietrich College.  At the end of the month, your advisor will send you a letter to your permanent address (the address you wrote on your application) outlining the required tasks you need to complete before you arrive on campus.

Dietrich College Freshmen Course Scheduling

June

In early June, the Dietrich College Summer Registration course will begin in Blackboard.  New first-year students are required to start this course in June and complete it in early July.  To access this course, you will need to obtain your Andrew Userid and Password.

Part of this course involves planning your fall schedule in Student Information Online (SIO) and having your Academic Advisor approve your plan.  SIO is also where information about you is located.

July-August

When you have completed the Dietrich College Summer Registration course in Blackboard and have gotten permission from your Academic Advisor, you Register for your fall schedule of classes.  You will be required to be completely registered for your fall classes by the middle of August.

Orientation

CMU Orientation is the week before the first day of classes for the fall semester.  During this week, you will meet with your Academic Advisor in a group session.  You can also request to meet individually with you advisor if any last minute scheduling issues arise.

First Day of Classes

By the first day of classes for the fall semester, you should be enrolled in a full schedule of classes.  Being enrolled also means that you have been "cleared" financially by the Enrollment Services office.
