The satellite lab is being established collaboratively with Carlow's School of Education and The Campus School of Carlow University, and will focus on interdisciplinary practices in education and high performance learning. CMU CREATE Lab satellites have already been established at Marshall University, West Virginia University and West Liberty University in West Virginia.

Developed under the direction of Reid Simmons, research professor in CMU's Robotics Institute, Victor the Gamebot is the latest in a series of "social robots" that anticipate the day when people and robots will interact routinely in workplaces, retail centers and even homes. With Victor, Simmons and fellow researchers hope to better understand what it takes to get people to not only engage with a robot, but to enjoy doing it.

Today's new energy gluttons, the information and communication technologies, are predicted to consume more than 15 percent of the world's electricity. Grover is developing tools that will ultimately help reduce the amount of energy consumed by data center networks by 30 to 50 percent. Applications for Grover's NSF-funded work range from high-speed indoor wireless cellular networks to brain-machine interfaces and chip-to-chip communication.
