Bio

Dan Barrett is the Senior Manager of Resource Operations in the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office. CFA has been a part of Dan’s life since he joined the Saturday Pre-College Art Program as a high school sophomore. He went on to receive his BFA from the College of Fine Arts School of Art with a concentration in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking. While a student in the School of Art, he discovered his passion for arts administration, working as the Assistant to the Director of the Pre-College Art Program.

After graduating from CMU, he joined the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts as the director of Children’s Programs. There, he programmed and managed the year-round Children’s Art Program and highly popular Summer Art Camps. He rejoined CMU in December 2008, coordinating the Music Preparatory School and Music for Non-Majors programs for the School of Music.

After nearly 11 years in the School of Music, Dan joined the CFA Dean’s Office in August 2019 as Senior Academic and Business Administrator, coordinating CFA interdisciplinary course offerings, supporting CFA’s academic advisors, and the CFA business managers and finance team.

He was promoted to Senior Manager of Resource Operations in August 2022 and now oversees all HR processes and the reappointment, promotion and tenure process for CFA.

Outside of CFA, he is an artist member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, a gigging keyboardist and an avid gardener.
