Barbara Smith Women's Mentoring Program

By The Carnegie Mellon Women’s Association

The Barbara Smith Women’s Mentoring Program (BSWMP) is soliciting mentors and mentees for 2018! The mentoring program is designed to facilitate supportive relationships by matching individual women staff who are willing to act as mentors with those who wish to be mentored. Mentor relationships are expected to center on professional interests and aspirations, including but not limited to career advancement, educational opportunities and job-related issues. Since 1994, the program has matched over 300 women with mentors.

The BSWMP was formerly managed by a group of volunteers: Gloria Gruber, Pattye Stragar and AnnMarie Zanger. As of 2017, The Carnegie Mellon Women’s Association (CMWA) will administer the program. Therefore, in order to participate in the program, you must be a member of CMWA.

All are invited to attend our information session on Monday, December 4 at 12pm in the Danforth Conference Room to learn more about the opportunity!

Applications to the program will be available to CMWA members from December 10, 2017 to January 19, 2018. The program will officially kick off on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at our reception and each mentoring relationship is expected to continue through the end of the 2018 year.
