Food Drive

CMU Community Food Drive

Please join the campus community in helping to fight hunger in Pittsburgh!

This year marks the 24th year of Carnegie Mellon University’s Annual Food Drive, sponsored by CMU’s Staff Council. It also marks the 1st year that the University of Pittsburgh’s Food Drive, sponsored by Pitt’s Staff Council, will run concurrently with CMU’s drive. Both drives benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and will run from October 30 – November 13.

Because we are neighboring universities and both care about hunger in the larger community, our Staff Councils have agreed to engage in “a friendly competition” for our food drive efforts.

This year, our collective online goal is an ambitious $10,000! We KNOW we can do it! The question is, which university will raise more?

Monetary Donations Make an Impact

Monetary donations are especially welcome and help to bring fresh foods to the table. For every $1.00 donated, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank can buy five meals.

Please make checks payable to "Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank"

Make a donation through our fundraising page

Gifts made through the CrowdRise site go directly to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, are tax deductible, and will count toward our university’s total! This will be in addition to what is collected in cash and non-perishable food and household items on the respective campuses.

Make a Food Donation

Please consider making a donation of food or other non-perishables during the food drive. Collection containers will be placed in many university buildings.

Most Wanted Food Items

Since its inception, CMU’s drive has resulted in more than 65 tons of food and almost $52,000!!! (More than $4,000 was raised in 2016 on CrowdRise alone!)

Whatever way you choose to participate, please join our campus communities in helping to fight hunger in the greater Pittsburgh region! Thank you, in advance, for your support!
