Bio

Jiayi Gu earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Math and Finance from the University of Rochester in 2023. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she developed a strong foundation in mathematics and finance and a passion for practical applications of mathematics. This led her to conduct a data-driven road safety analysis using multivariate regression. Prior to enrolling in the MSCF program at Carnegie Mellon University, Jiayi worked part-time as a Quantitative Researcher at CITIC Securities Co., Ltd. There, she designed and backtested various trading strategies, gaining deeper insights into the finance industry. Additionally, she co-founded filMarathon, a Shanghai-based film festival aimed at bridging the gap between professionals and students. These experiences have honed Jiayi's leadership, teamwork, communication, and analytical skills. She is now part of the MSCF program to enhance her quantitative and financial skills further and plans to pursue a career in Quantitative Research or Quantitative Trading after graduation.
