Bio

Yuning (Betty) Zheng graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) with a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Engineering. During her undergraduate study, she was trained to use math and stats knowledge, coding skills, and logical thinking to solve financial problems. Interested in industry practices and academic research, Betty has experience in both the workplace and the research lab. In her latest internship in Derivatives China, she collaborated with two interns to design a multi-factor trading strategy framework in Python from scratch that automatically implements stock data scraping and processing, factor calculation, and model training on the Taiwan stock market. She leveraged her intuition in finance, coding knowledge, and communication skills to add value to the team. Betty’s research experiences prompted her to learn distinctive skills. In behavioral finance research, she quantified the effect of the irrational trading behaviors of retail investors on individual profits and market returns; in a law database project, she taught herself simple NLP and front-end development. Betty is always untiring when learning new stuff. Betty joined the MSCF Program to sharpen her quantitative skills and expand her knowledge in global markets. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in quantitative research, strats & modeling, or portfolio management.
