Chapter Liaison Model

The chapter liaison model is designed to help strengthen communication and foster collaboration between individual chapters and the Fraternity and Sorority Life office. By working with your organization's designated liaison, each chapter will gain personalized support to help meet organization goals and enhance the overall fraternity and sorority life experience

What is a chapter liaison?

A chapter liaison is a staff member in the fraternity and sorority life office who serves as the primary point of contact between your chapter and the FSL office. They also serve as the main point of contact for any chapter stakeholders, like chapter advisors and headquarters contacts. The liaison helps guide your chapter through administrative processes, provides resources for leadership development, and offers assistance with any challenges that your organization may face.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support Chapter Goals: The chapter liaison helps your chapter develop and execute goals in areas like academic success, philanthropy, leadership, and risk management
  • Facilitate Communication: Your liaison will meet with chapter leaders for one-on-one meetings to discuss the chapter’s priorities, challenges, and plans for the semester
  • Provide Resources and Guidance: The liaison can help provide chapters with resources given the current needs of the organization. The resources could include workshops/trainings, connections to other offices on campus, and much more.
  • Promote Collaboration: Liaison support helps ensure your chapter is participating in FSL-wide events, maintaining interchapter relationships, and upholding the values of the Carnegie Mellon FSL community.
