Research interests: I have assessed how much individuals or society prepared to pay to improve resilience in the face of low-probability power outages of wide extent and long duration and have used the elicited informed judgments to illustrate how the results could be used for local or regional decision-making.

Research keywords: energy risk assessment and management; Energy security, reliability and resilience in the face of extreme events; Enhancing critical infrastructure resilience; Public perceptions and decision making; quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy system transitions

Research interests: I develop optimization models to explore how market signals motivate autonomous consumers to use energy technology in ways that support a smarter, cleaner power sector. My current projects simulate future power sector emissions and model interactions between urban districts and the electric grid.

Research keywords: urban sustainability; demand-side management; power sector sustainability; energy systems modeling; dynamic pricing mechanisms

Research interests:  I work on policies for Intelligent Transportation Systems and connected vehicles using cellular vehicle-to-everything (V2X), dedicated short range communications (DSRC) and other technologies. My research interests include engineering-economic modeling, wireless communications, benefit-cost analysis, connected and automated vehicles, smart cities, and spectrum policy.

Research keywords: intelligent transportation systems, connected and automated vehicles, V2X, smart cities, Internet of things, wireless communications, Internet policy, spectrum policy, benefit-cost analysis, policy analysis

Research interests: Based on semi-structured interviews, people believe climate change affects extreme weather. However, it is unclear when, how, and why laypeople draw these associations. My current research addresses this gap and aims to tease out what lines of evidence laypeople follow when they attribute an extreme event to climate change.

Research keywords: risk perception and communication; social behavioral science; extreme weather; climate change; policy analysis

Research interests: My current work focuses on evaluating energy policy decisions from the perspective of climate change and air pollution. More generally, I am interested in policies that help to advance the transition to more sustainable energy systems, with a focus on the electric power sector.

Research keywords: energy policy; electric power; emissions and climate change; electricity markets; public perceptions

Research Interests: Characterizing and modeling technological and policy pathways (and dead ends) toward deep decarbonization through: 1) Techno-economic analysis of near-zero and negative emission technologies, such as direct air carbon capture and electrofuels, 2) Econometric and machine learning analysis of residential electricity consumption behavior supplemented with household surveys, 3) Statistical characterization of uncertainty in long-term energy forecasting and 4) Developing decision-focused frameworks for evaluating climate-mitigation strategies.

Research keywords: energy policy; econometrics; machine learning; electricity consumption behavior; technoeconomic analysis

Research interests: I research externalities of the electricity sector in the context of future energy planning. In one project I perform bounding analysis on the emissions of a possible increase in coal use. In a separate project, I explore the ecological and land use impacts from deep decarbonizing Pennsylvania.

Research keywords: energy policy; electricity sector; climate change

Research interests: I have analyzed the implications of specific assumptions used in discrete choice modelling on predictions for policy analysis and optimal engineering design. I am working on assessing vehicle electrification policies (e.g., ZEV mandates), considering nested policy regimes, policy interactions, consumer choice, firm behaviour, and technological/product heterogeneity.

Research keywords: energy and environmental policy; electric vehicles; technology policy; energy and environmental economics; transportation energy and fuels policy
