History
In 2005, Carnegie Mellon created the Highlands Circle, a giving society to recognize donors who contribute $1 million or more to the university over the course of their lifetimes or through their estates. Membership in this most prestigious society includes more than 200 individuals, families, corporations and foundations. Andrew Carnegie, the Mellon family and many other philanthropists in the Highlands Circle have created a legacy of giving in which you can now participate at Carnegie Mellon.
The logo, created by the firm of alumnus John Brady (A 1975), is based on the Scottish thistle and the Carnegie Mellon wordmark. These features reflect the influential nature of the society, as well as the ideas of philanthropy and heritage that are present throughout the university.
