Scotty Saturday celebrates Carnegie Mellon spirit and pride, uplifting our incredible students and highlighting the vibrancy of our campus! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of activities, traditions, student talent showcases, free snacks, and more!

Each year, The Office of Student Involvement and Traditions partners with the Office of Family Engagement to host Scotty Saturday during CMU’s annual Family Weekend! Don’t forget to check out all the fantastic sessions, workshops, and other experiences.

Scotty Saturday at a Glance

Scotty Saturday activities and events will fill the afternoon and evening, taking place all along East/West Walkway into Legacy Plaza, Merson Courtyard and The Cut. We’re bringing back all our favorite Scotty Saturday staples:

  • Afternoon Adventures
  • Marketplace & Tabling
  • Student Showcase
  • Apparel Sale

We are also thrilled to cheer on the CMU Tartans Football team at their home game on Scotty Saturday this year! Stay tuned for more info on themed activities and programs! 

2024 highlights included:

  • Themed activities, demonstrations, and crafts for students and visitors alike
  • Marketplace tabling from student organizations and student entrepreneurs
  • Pumpkin Painting with Student Government
  • Free Pittsburgh Popcorn, Cider, and Donuts
  • Inflatable Mini-Golf and Obstacle Course
  • Student Music and Dance performances
  • A Mini-Museum, Screenprinting, and Button-making with the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh
  • Mini-Escape Room and Puzzle Box
  • And much more!

SUBMIT A PROPOSAL

We’re currently accepting submissions for students and student organizations that are interested in performing, hosting activities or events, tabling, fundraising and more. Please complete the 2025 Scotty Saturday & Family Weekend Proposal form on TartanConnect by Friday, September 12. 

Students & Student Orgs: Get Involved

Plan an afternoon activity

Facilitate a fun activity or event! Big or small, we love them all! Ideas could include: pumpkin painting, cornhole tournaments, cookie decorating, small service projects, henna, or photobooths.Small grants are available for groups or individuals who sponsor and facilitate activities during the Afternoon Adventures

Perform at the student showcase

Perform as an individual or as an organization for Scotty Saturday attendees. Music, dance, comedy, poetry and more are all welcome for this small, casual performance space

Showcase your organization: tell the campus what your organization is all about and how to get involved

Fundraise: student groups may sell food, apparel, art, or other items to raise funds

Individual entrepreneurs: promote or sell items, art, and/or handmade goods from your own small business
