Staff Council Rep Feature: Tamaira Binion

Tamaira Binion is an At-Large Representative and a member of the Food Drive Committee.

How long have you been at CMU and what is your role?

I’ve been at CMU for two and a half years and I am assistant director for Alumni and Constituent Engagement focusing on volunteer management.

What do you like most about being part of CMU staff?

Meeting so many different people and learning about their roles. I’ve met so many smart and amazing people through my role - the Ladies of Color (LOC) group, Carnegie Mellon Women’s Association and the Advancement Leadership Fellowship (2021 cohort).

What is your best work-from-home tip?

Remember to step away from your desk. Working from home, the lines can get a little blurred. In the office, I would take a walk around campus, so I try to incorporate that into the schedule at home as well.

How can your constituents get in touch with you?

Email is always the best bet for me.
