Staff Council Ice Cream Social Was Held Thursday, April 19

On a very chilly Thursday in April (4/19/2018), Staff Council held the annual Ice Cream Social in the General Motors Room of the Jared L. Cohon University Center.  Staff Council representatives served over 600 assorted ice cream bars and sandwiches to members of staff, with the remaining treats going to faculty, alumni and students.

The Ice Cream Social is meant to be a networking and social event for staff members. It is also a way to encourage them to step away from their work to enjoy Spring Carnival as part of the CMU community.  This year, staff came out to enjoy ice cream, meet the newly elected Staff Council divisional representatives, and see if they won a prize.

The Communications Committee partnered with the GEM Committee and conducted a raffle awarding prizes to staff members who voted in the recent election.  All staff who voted in the 2018 divisional election received an entry into the raffle, and the winners were:

  • Desk Clock – Kyat Mak and Robert Rosenstein
  • Pad Folio – Jessica Arnold and John Dermott
  • Pen desk set – Jose Mario Lopez and Yadira Valdez
  • Fit Bucks – Pamela Snyder
  • T-shirt – Melissa Turk, Natalie Swensson, Donna Frost, and Diana Baizek
  • Thumb Drive and Screen Cleaner – Rachel Wadell, Anders Weinstein, Daniel Ruef, Issac Mason
  • Scotty Reusable mug – David Scott
  • Kennywood Tickets – Julia Zurbach and Angela Malloy
  • Pirates Tickets – Melissa Carpozza and Elizabeth Carter
  • Grand Prize – Echo Dot – Donghan Wang

It was a good day to stay inside in the warmth, enjoy something cold, and dream that spring was just around the corner.  Thank you to everyone who assisted with the elections, contributed to the raffle, or volunteered on the day of the event to make this year’s Ice Cream Social such a successful celebration. We hope to see you again next year.
