Deliberative forums, which seek to discover citizens' opinions on key issues affecting their neighborhoods after they have engaged in multiple, informed and structured conversations, will be conducted in all six of Pittsburgh's policing zones in June and July. By participating in the forum, residents are encouraged to share their ideas about how to improve policing in Pittsburgh, identify their priorities and suggest the qualities they believe are essential in the new chief of police.

In her new book, Tetrault, an associate professor of history at CMU, details how Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Obituary: Carnegie Mellon Alumna and Hall of Fame Inventor Stephanie Kwolek Dies at 90
Kwolek, who earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from CMU in 1946 and an honorary degree from the university in 2001, spent her 40-year career as a research chemist in the Textile Fibers Department at the DuPont Company's Pioneering Research Laboratory. She invented Kevlar®, the essential ingredient in body armor.

President Suresh was recognized for his scientific contributions in materials science and engineering, including his work connecting nanomechanical cell structure to disease states. In a demonstration at the culmination of the 18-month project, a Black Hawk helicopter will carry the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) in a sling, deliver it to a remote site and return to base. The UGV will then traverse the rugged site, using its on-board sensors to survey for chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear contamination. All of this will occur out of direct sight, without human intervention and without putting human lives at risk.
