BXA Celebrates 25 Years of Kaleidoscope

Public Programming Includes Student & Alumni Showcase, Alumni Panel and Capstone Project Presentations

By Emily Syes

The BXA Intercollege Degree Programs students and alumni will showcase a variety of creative, interdisciplinary work at the 25th annual Kaleidoscope exhibition on view April 26–May 3, in the Hall of the Arts (HOA) second floor. Guests are welcome to join the reception celebration with refreshments, swag, demos and performances on April 27, from 4:30–6:30pm.

The projects featured in the show highlight the integration of students’ artistic and academic disciplines across BXA’s degrees: Bachelor of Computer Science and Arts (BCSA), Engineering Studies and Arts (BESA), Humanities and Arts (BHA), Science and Arts (BSA) and Engineering and Arts additional major (EA).

BXA students have prepared a diverse array of visual, auditory and experiential work for the community to view including virtual reality, video games, installations, 2-D and 3-D art, digital pieces, photography, poetry, zines, social practice, design, musical performance and so much more.

In addition, BXA seminars I and II will display their final course projects. BXA alumni digital submissions will be projected during the event as well as shared on BXA’s YouTube channel.

Kaleidoscope will close with BXA senior capstone project presentations as part of Meeting of the Minds undergraduate research symposium in HOA Link Lounge and room 211F on May 3, from 10am–3pm.

In conjunction with Kaleidoscope, BXA and the Career & Professional Development Center will host an alumni panel lunch to connect current students with several alumni in HOA Link Lounge on April 28, noon–1:50pm. Faculty, advisors and students across campus are also welcome to attend to learn about the interesting work BXA alumni are doing now and how they spent their years at CMU.
