The important role of student ambassadors in CMU BME

By Karina Shevchenko

Behind every applicant’s seamless transition into Carnegie Mellon University’s Biomedical Engineering (CMU BME) department is a group of passionate and dedicated student ambassadors. These individuals volunteer their time and energy to make prospective students feel welcome, informed, and supported as they navigate the application, admission, and onboarding process.

From offering campus tours to holding office hours for applicants, these ambassadors serve as invaluable guides, sharing firsthand insights about campus life, departmental programs, and research opportunities. They are more than representatives of the BME community—they are mentors, connectors, and advocates for a truly enriching student experience.

In recognition of the contributions of our current and past student ambassadors, the department is proud to highlight the experiences of four recent graduates. These individuals played a key role in shaping the BME community during their time here and are now making strides in their professional journeys.
