- The earliest freshmen can declare a major is March of their first year. If you are an undeclared freshmen who has been waitlisted for a course that is required for a particular major then do not panic! All majors within H&SS are designed to be completed in no more than two years. This means, you are not behind for a particular major despite not being able to get in one of the core classes in your first year. Most of the courses required for each major are reserved for students who have already declared the major.
- If you are waitlisted for a course then you will want to find a backup course that is open. If you are able to get into the waitlisted course at a later time then you can always drop the backup course. If you choose not to find a backup course and never end up getting into the waitlisted course then you will be in an even tougher situation because the backup courses will also eventually fill up. It is better to be safe than sorry!
