Annual Financial Report 2026

We are pleased to present Carnegie Mellon University’s 2026 Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.

Centered on the theme Investing in Tomorrow, this year’s report demonstrates how disciplined financial stewardship ripples outward to transform communities locally and globally, now and into the future. This mission is accelerated by the largest gift in the history of higher education to date: $3 billion from Citadel CEO and philanthropist Kenneth C. Griffin announced on Sept. 30, 2026. This includes a $1 billion investment in the Pittsburgh campus, split between the university’s highest priorities and its top-ranked and newly renamed Kenneth C. Griffin School of Computer Science. The remaining $2 billion will launch CMU Miami, a new campus organized around societal challenges and designed to pioneer a model for higher education built for the next era of American innovation. Across our community, that spirit proves that at CMU, what if continuously becomes what’s next.

In addition to our consolidated financial statements and the report of our independent auditors, you will also find financial highlights from Interim Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer MaryFrances McCourt and Chief Investment Officer Charles A. Kennedy. The site also includes year-in-review stories that show the university’s societal impact — locally, nationally, and globally.

The primary purpose of the report is to publish the university’s Consolidated Statements of Financial Position as of June 30, 2026, and June 30, 2025, and the related Consolidated Statements of Activities and cash flows for the years then ended. The online Annual Financial Report is shared with bondholders of the university’s debt, rating agencies, and the Board of Trustees, and is available to the broader university community and external parties seeking information related to the university’s audited financial statements.

We are proud to share these reflections with you and profoundly grateful for the people behind them.
