Procurement Services (PS) is dedicated to managing the most effective and efficient procurement of quality goods and services in support of Carnegie Mellon's missions and goals. PS accomplishes this through exceptional customer service, innovative processes/procedures and sound business practices. We are "service orientated" to support campus community buyers with the best financial and informational resources.

PS’s responsibility in strategic planning is to develop its goals, strategies, and plans to support the University’s core missions.  PS will focus our resources to become a key sourcing solution and provide professional negotiation expertise and results in savings that faculty and staff members can then reallocate to further strengthen their programs and initiatives. Procurement Services activities include obligations for ethical behavior, compliance with government regulations, proper transaction documentation and fiscal responsibility.

PS’ goals include the following:

  1. Maximize customer satisfaction.
  2. Develop and maintain an approved purchasing system for the acquisition of goods and materials
  3. Ensure effective and cooperative relationships with our customers and suppliers.
  4. Provide campus education relating to the procurement process.
  5. Provide campus buyers with access to pre-established supplier contracts.
  6. Maintain and create sound business practices.
