Kolter is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department with the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a member of the Societal Computing Program, and he is an affiliated member of the Machine Learning Department, the Robotics Institute, and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.


Kolter's research focuses on computational approaches to sustainable energy domains, and core challenges arising in machine learning, optimization, and control in these areas.
