Bio

Reeja Jayan is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She was previously a Postdoctoral Associate in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) working under the supervision of Professor Karen Gleason. She received her M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (UT-Austin), working with Professor Arumugam Manthiram.

Research

Jayan develops highly scalable processes for engineering multi-functional, micro- and nanoscale thin films or coatings on a variety of surfaces (wafers, paper, plastic, textiles). Applications range from transparent, flexible solar cells and electronic devices to conformal coatings on MEMS structures and biological scaffolds.
