By Amanda King

Inês Azevedo, professor of engineering and public policy and co-director of CMU’s Climate and Energy Decision Making Center, participated in a panel discussion at the 36th Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training, Oct. 17-19, in Pittsburgh. Azevedo’s panel, moderated by Heinz College Adjunct Professor Matthew Mehalik, discussed the future of energy systems in our region, how cities can combat climate change with innovative solutions and how others can steer decision-makers toward a more sustainable future.

Climate Reality founder and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore provided training on the understanding of climate science, communicating climate change and how to inspire others to take action. CMU President Farnam Jahanian and Anna J. Siefken, associate director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships for the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, also attended the conference.
