Safety Data Sheets

All persons working with hazardous materials must have easy access to the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for EACH of those materials. Carnegie Mellon allows those responsible for a given work area (supervisor, researcher or instructor) to meet this requirement in two different fashions.

1. The SDS may be present in paper form in the work area, where all applicable persons have access to them.
2. The SDS may be accessed through Scisure.

Reading an SDS is sometimes challenging. For assistance in interpreting an SDS, campus users may contact EHS at safety@andrew.cmu.edu.
