Smoke-less at CMU
Carnegie Mellon’s Smoke-Less Campus Policy, approved in August 2017, prohibits smoking in all university buildings and facilities, and limits smoking to designated outdoor areas. The “smoke-less” approach honors our campus geography and is grounded in sustained and visible efforts to reduce smoking and promote cessation. This approach also demonstrates the University’s commitment to encourage and support the reduction of significant health risks to members of the community.
