Lockout / Tagout / Tryout

Carnegie Mellon University’s Hazardous Energy Control Procedure is designed to protect faculty and staff from the unexpected startup or release of hazardous energy. The procedure establishes the minimum requirements for hazardous energy control and is designed to assist with proper lockout, tagout, and tryout during the servicing or maintenance of machines or equipment. The procedure also addresses proper employee training and periodic lockout, tagout, and tryout inspections.
