As a MUSIC PART-TIME: COMMUTER student, you are required to complete the following steps to finalize your enrollment.
Step 1: Select your Program Options (Lessons and Activities) and Pay Any Associated Costs
After you submit your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to select your program part-time options through the School of Music at https://commerce.cashnet.com/CMU170. If you require assistance with your option choices, contact music-precollege@andrew.cmu.edu.
Step 2: Confirm Receipt of your Andrew userID
You will receive an email entitled “Action Required: Your Andrew userID Has Been Created” from it-help@cmu.edu. The email will provide instructions on how to receive your Andrew userID, set a password, and enroll in two-factor authentication (2fa) with DUO, Carnegie Mellon’s multi-factor authentication service provider. Please be sure to check your spam folder, in the event the email does not appear in your inbox.
Step 3: Log on to Student Information Online (SIO)
After you create your password and enroll in 2fa, you will have access to the Student Information Online (SIO) where you will be able to verify biographical information.
Step 4: Verify your Information in the MY INFO Tab on SIO
Under the My Info tab on SIO, verify that the Permanent Address, Personal Email, and Mobile Phone information is correct. Additionally, ensure that the information is the student’s rather than that of the parent or guardian. This information is used for our emergency alert system, so it is imperative for the information to be that of the student.
Step 5: Complete and Submit Enrollment Forms by May 5
Several days after creating your Andrew password, you will receive an email entitled “[CMU Pre-College] Enrolling in the Carnegie Mellon's Pre-College Programs” from pclife@andrew.cmu.edu. The email provides instructions on how to access the student portal. Please check your spam folder if you do not see it in your inbox.
Preliminary enrollment paperwork will be due 14 days after you receive your offer of admittance. You will receive an email with a link to your preliminary enrollment paperwork found in your student portal after your Pre-College student record has been fully processed. Preliminary enrollment paperwork includes:
• Parent/Guardian Contact Information and Emergency Contacts
• Consent to Treat Minors
• General Release
• Student Handbook, Code of Conduct, Policies, and Procedures
Step 6: Access your CMU Email Account
Check your CMU email regularly for official university messages and updates from your instructors. We will not communicate with you using your personal email account. You can read your CMU email using a browser or an app on your mobile device.
