Beinecke Scholarship

The Beinecke Scholarship is a merit- and need-based award of $34,000 for outstanding students planning to attain graduate degrees in the arts, humanities or social sciences. Churchill Scholarship

The Churchill Scholarship is for U.S. citizen graduating seniors or alumni who earned their undergraduate degree within the last 12 months. The award includes full funding for a one-year Master’s degree in a STEM field at the University of Cambridge, England. Applicants should be extremely high-GPA students with substantial research achievements in a particular area of STEM. CMU Rales Fellows Program

The CMU Rales Fellows Program is dedicated to developing a diverse community of STEM leaders from underrepresented and under-resourced backgrounds by eliminating cost as a barrier to education. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients, and applying to an eligible Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) graduate degree program on Carnegie Mellon University's Pittsburgh campus.

Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund

The Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund can fund advanced education and graduate study grants, which must be carried out entirely in the United States of America. The award provides $18,000 to cover the cost of tuition only (no fees) and a stipend to be allocated towards room, board, living expenses and income taxes. The award is to be given only to candidates who have outstanding undergraduate records, have demonstrated a need for financial assistance, are citizens of the United States of America, are enrolled in accredited colleges and universities in the United States and have received baccalaureate degrees. Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme in the Humanities

The Ertegun Graduate Scholarship funds graduate studies leading to a masters or doctoral degree in the arts and humanities at Oxford University. Rising seniors, graduate students, or recent alumni of any nationality who meet both the Ertegun program criteria and their chosen program of study criteria at Oxford should apply.

Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship

The Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship seeks to attract top technology talent to the Foreign Service that reflects the diversity of the United States. The FAIT Fellowship program values varied backgrounds, including ethnic, racial, gender, geographic diversity, and those with financial need. The program is designed for highly talented individuals who want to pursue an IT-related undergraduate or graduate degree (such as computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, computer engineering, IT services administration, and computer systems networking and more), and a career in the Foreign Service. The two-year fellowship program provides up to $43,500 annually (for two years) in graduate funding, as well as domestic and overseas internships. Upon successful completion of the fellowship program and the State Department’s entry requirements, fellows receive an appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist for a minimum of five years.

Fulbright US Student Program

The Fulbright US Student Program funds a year abroad in 150+ different countries to participate in English teaching assistantships, graduate studies, or independent research. Rising seniors, graduate students, or recent alumni who are U.S. citizens may apply. Because this scholarship involves a campus review process, prospective applicants should check the CMU Fulbright webpage for the internal campus deadlines.

 

Fulbright-Hays DDRA Fellowship Program

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program provides grants to fund individual doctoral students who conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies for periods of six to 12 months. Projects deepen research knowledge on and help the nation develop capability in areas of the world not generally included in U.S. curricula. Projects focusing on Western Europe are not supported. Current doctoral students who are U.S. citizens and who have been admitted to candidacy can apply.

Gates Cambridge

The Gates Cambridge is open to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens who are seniors, alumni, or graduate/professional students. The award fully funds one to four years of study in any field, leading to a graduate degree at the University of Cambridge, England. The Gates Foundation especially seeks applicants with a focus on improving the lives of others through their work.

 

Hertz Graduate Fellowship

The Hertz Graduate Fellowship provides a cost-of-education allowance and personal-support stipend to exceptional students in the applied physical, biological, engineering, and mathematical sciences who are pursuing Ph.D. degrees. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are graduating seniors or 1st-year graduate students may apply.

Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

The Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship is an external fellowship that provides funding for advanced study in architecture, art, dance, landscape architecture, music, theatre, or urban and regional planning. Seniors, graduate students, and alumni who have achieved high attainment in their discipline may apply.

Knight-Hennessy Scholarship

The Knight-Hennessy Scholarship is for 2 to 5 years of study leading to a graduate degree in any field at Stanford University. Seniors, graduate students, and recent alumni within four years of earning their bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply. Applicants may be U.S. or non-U.S. citizens.

Marshall

The Marshall Scholarship is for U.S. citizens with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.7. Seniors, graduate/professional students, and alumni may apply within two years of earning their undergraduate degree. The award fully funds one to three years of study leading to a degree at any British university. McCall MacBain Scholarship

The McCall MacBain Scholarship fully funds an eligible master's degree in a variety of fields at McGill University in Canada. Applicants must meet GPA (and other) requirements of their target program at McGill to be eligible. Seniors and alumni under 30 may apply. Mitchell

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship is for U.S. citizens under the age of 30. The award fully funds one year of postgraduate study in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. NDSEG

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships are awarded to U.S. citizens who intend to pursue doctoral degrees in STEM fields of interest to the Department of Defense. These three-year awards cover tuition and fees, monthly stipend, and medical insurance. Graduating seniors, alumni, and 1st- or 2nd-year graduate students are eligible.

NSF GRF

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship supports outstanding students in STEM fields who plan to attain research-based Master’s or Ph.D. degrees. The awards provide a $12,000 cost-of-education allowance and $34,000 stipend to U.S. citizens, nationals, and permanent residents who are graduating seniors or 1st- or 2nd- year graduate students.

Quad Fellowship

The Quad Fellowship provides $40,000 for students who will pursue, or are currently enrolled in, a master's or PhD degree in a STEM discipline at any U.S. university. Citizens or legal permanent residents of Australia, India, Japan, the United States, or any ASEAN country (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam) are eligible to apply.

Rangel Fellowship

The Rangel Program is a U.S. State Department program administered by Howard University that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. The Program seeks individuals interested in helping to shape a freer, more secure and prosperous world through formulating, representing, and implementing U.S. foreign policy. The Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a 3.2+ GPA and seeking admission to enter graduate school for a two-year program at a U.S. university in an area of relevance to the Foreign Service. They can be in the senior year of their undergraduate studies or they can be college graduates.

Rhodes

The Rhodes Scholarship is for U.S. citizens or citizens from 63 other countries under the age of 24 who are seniors, graduate/professional students, or recent alumni. The Rhodes fully funds two to three years of study leading to a degree at the University of Oxford, England.

 

Samvid Scholarship

Samvid Scholars provides up to $100,000 for two years of study leading to certain graduate degrees (MD, MBA, JD, MPP, MPH, or MS/MA in social sciences or STEM) at any U.S. university. Seniors, graduate students, and alumni who are U.S. citizens or DACA recipients are eligible to apply.

Schwarzman Scholarship

This scholarship provides a year of study leading to a Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics and Business, or International Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. All courses are taught in English.

 

SMART

The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation Scholarship is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM fields to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed in a Department of Defense research facility upon graduation. Applicants must be citizens of the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the UK.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans is a $90,000 merit-based fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants who are pursuing graduate programs in any discipline in the U.S. Eligibility includes U.S. citizens, green card holders, and DACA individuals who are graduating seniors or in their 1st or 2nd year of a graduate program.

Tillman Scholarship

The Tillman Scholarship provides funding for academic expenses, including tuition, books and living expenses, as well as continuing leadership development opportunities. Applicants must be active duty service members, veterans, or military spouses who are pursuing full-time undergraduate, graduate, or professional degrees at accredited U.S.-based institutions.

USAID Donald M. Payne International Development

The USAID Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship seeks to attract outstanding individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The Payne Fellowship encourages the application of individuals from historically underrepresented groups in the Foreign Service as well as those with financial need. Candidates can be graduating seniors or college graduates with strong academic records and a desire to promote positive change in the world. The fellowship provides up to $104,000 in benefits over two years for graduate school, internships, and professional development activities. Upon successful completion of the Payne Program and USAID entry requirements, Fellows receive an appointment to the USAID Foreign Service, with a required five years of service.

Yenching Scholarship

The Yenching Academy of Peking University aims to build bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary master's program in China Studies, with the goal of shaping new generations of global citizens with a nuanced understanding of China. The Yenching Academy provides full fellowships to its Scholars, and offers them a wide array of interdisciplinary courses on China within broadly defined fields of the humanities and social sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, Yenching Scholars create their own study paths by choosing courses from six research areas. They participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and field studies, organized by the Yenching Academy, and designed by scholars themselves. Applicants must be graduating seniors or recent alumni with English proficiency.
