Microsoft Outage Affects Travel Worldwide
Please be advised the global Microsoft outage is affecting various CTP systems, including staff access to communication systems, online booking tools, and agent-facing systems. The degradation is also affecting many partner supplier systems, airports, banks, and other systems that may impact your travel worldwide.
In a post on X at 6:46 AM ET, Microsoft reported: “The underlying cause has been fixed, however, residual impact is continuing to affect some Microsoft 365 apps and services. We're conducting additional mitigations to provide relief. More details can be found within the admin center under MO821132 and on https://status.cloud.microsoft.”
CTP advises travel and travel bookings may continue to be impacted as airports and carriers aim to resume normal operations.
This issue is driving higher than normal call volume due to airline impact, which is increasing current hold times and limiting our agents ability to access vital systems.
Given the unprecedented nature of this global outage, CTP continues to recommend the following traveler actions to help mitigate inconvenience:
- Check with your carrier before heading to the airport; many flights have been grounded or cancelled
- Use the airline app and/or relevant websites to check flight status before heading to the airport
- Travelers should only use CTM Emergency Services when travel is within 72 hours of departure
- For travel outside of 72 hours, please call during normal business hours; our goal is to service travelers who are experiencing current flight disruptions due to this outage and not inhibit travelers in need from being able to reach a live agent
- Book, change, and cancel travel reservations through your company’s online booking tool if available, or when service is restored
- Ensure your mobile number is included in your travel profile for the most expedited experience when calling the CTP agent team
- Download airline apps, and sign up for airline messages
