Faculty Leaves

Effective Monday, September 16, 2024, the Faculty Leave Application (FLA) forms for family, parental, and professional leave will be hosted on a new platform. Please email facultyleaves@andrew.cmu.edu for any inquiries. 

 

Consistent with university policy, professional leave applications for fall 2025 and academic year 2025-2026 should be submitted by January 1, 2025, and review will begin in January, with decisions by March.

Personal, Family and Parental leave requests can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed regularly.

If you have submitted a professional leave of absence with an intended start date before Fall 2024, please forward your submission notification email with a request for expedited review to facultyleaves@andrew.cmu.edu.

Faculty members should request professional leaves of absence at least one semester in advance of taking the leave. Where the need for leave is unanticipated, faculty members should request leave as soon as possible. In addition to parental leaves, faculty have access to  the family leave policy and may have rights under the Family Medical Leave Act. To apply for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), please visit Human Resources.
