Skylar Kim is a Ph.D. student whose research examines talk-in-interaction among L2 learners.
Her master’s reserach explored the effects of voice-based ChatGPT interaction on Korean learners of English, analyzing speaking development and interactional processes including negotiation of meaning. Her current work extends this inquiry using conversation analysis (CA) to examine how interactional enviroments (e.g., learner-AI or learner-learner) organizes L2 talk differently.
Her broader interests include CA-based approaches to L2 interaction, epistemics in talk-in-interaction and multilingual classroom interaction.
