Bio

Seungjoo Kim (preferred name: Skylar Kim) is a Ph.D. student whose research focuses on L2 interaction and learner agency, particularly in AI-supported and multicultural learning contexts.

During her master’s program, she examined the effects of voice-based ChatGPT on Korean EFL learners, focusing on (1) their speaking proficiency and affective and metacognitive domains, and (2) their negotiation of meaning processes. Building on this work, her current research extends these investigations into learner agency across diverse L2 learning contexts.

She is interested in employing diverse methodologies in her research, including conversation analysis and mixed methods.
