Bio

Giuseppina Gemboni is thrilled to join the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics at Carnegie Mellon University, where she looks forward to engaging with students and exploring the richness of Italian language, culture, cinema and history together. With a Ph.D. in Romance Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, along with master's degrees in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language and Foreign Languages for International Communication from universities in Italy, Dr. Gemboni is passionate about bringing her knowledge and experiences into the classroom. Her aim is to help students move beyond textbooks and stereotypes, and to discover the multifaceted nature of Italian studies while learning from their diverse perspectives.

At CMU, Dr. Gemboni is excited to contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching, working alongside colleagues in LCAL and across the university. She is looking forward to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment in her courses that inspires curiosity and critical thinking.
