University Center Food Handlers
All student individuals and organizations planning on preparing, cooking, and/or serving food in University Center reserved spaces must follow these steps at least two weeks in advance of the event:
- Make sure to note on your SpaceQuest reservation that your event will have food that will be prepared, cooked, and/or served.
You will be notified to read through this educational presentation and pass a quiz that is based on this information.
Download the presentation here.
Download the quiz here.
All members of your organization who will be preparing/cooking/serving food should take the quiz.
- Once you have printed out the quiz and taken it, then please submit it to the University Center Info Desk.
All quiz takers will be notified by e-mail within 72 hours of pass or fail status. A grade of 90% will be considered passing (only 4 incorrect questions).
- The University Center will provide to each individual a certificate of completion. The certification will last for one academic year.
Each individual will need to bring ther certificate to the event for verification. The certificate will be marked with the date and event name.
Note: You will need to let the University Reservations staff know that you will need a new certificate (with the date and event name) the next time you hold a food event.
- If an event is held by individuals or organizations that have not received a certificate of completion or are not following the proper food safety guidelines, the event will not be allowed to continue.
Individuals/Organizations will need to take the quiz again in order to hold another food event.
After two violations, individuals/organizations will not be allowed to prepare, serve, or cook food in the University Center reserved space for the remainder of the academic year.
