Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer

The Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer is responsible for implementing a unifying strategic vision for DEIB across the university. This team establishes and maintains a culture of assessment and evaluation in relation to DEIB, partners across the university to improve the campus climate, and serves as ambassadors for the university and its commitment to DEIB externally in Pittsburgh and beyond.

Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion


The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) actively cultivates a strong, diverse and inclusive community capable of living out these values and advancing research, creativity, learning and development that changes the world. The CSDI offers resources to enhance an inclusive and transformative student experience in dimensions such as access, success, campus climate and intergroup dialogue.

Office for Institutional Equity and Title IX


The Office for Institutional Equity and Title IX is dedicated to promoting equity at Carnegie Mellon University, which includes coordinating the University's efforts to prevent and effectively respond to all forms of gender discrimination (including gender identity discrimination) and sexual misconduct impacting community members, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.

Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement (SLICE)

SLICE provides and promotes opportunities that facilitate students’ development of self and community. Their passion for purposeful engagement, ethical leadership, self-efficacy, and social change drives their work as advocates and advisors. Through experiential learning, they support, educate, and embolden the next generation of leaders and global citizens as they make lasting, positive impacts on their communities.

Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion. The committee helps to maintain diversity as a foundational principle of CMU’s faculty infrastructure. One of their most important goals is to develop and disseminate tools and techniques that better enable colleges to recruit stellar faculty from a variety of backgrounds.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

ERGs are groups formed by members of an organization with the overarching purpose to unite individuals to a common cause and to provide a structured framework for awareness opportunities for members. Additionally, ERGs serve the purpose of acting as a conduit for outreach efforts for the local community and for other campus initiatives.

Office of International Education (OIE)

OIE is committed to supporting, promoting and celebrating individuals in an intercultural environment. OIE advocates for and facilitates international and cross-cultural experiences, perspectives and initiatives. OIE promotes and facilitates study abroad and acts as a liaison to the university for international students, researchers and professors.

Military veterans are a vital part of the CMU community, playing an integral role in student life, academic endeavors and intellectual achievements.
