Drucella Garcia
Associate Director of Admission, Office of Undergraduate Admission
5000 Forbes Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15213
I started at CMU in 2020
For four years, I have worked in the Office of Admission Access and Diversity Initiatives team, leading efforts for local recruitment strategy, underresourced recruitment and counseling initiatives, and on-campus programming for high school counselors and CBO partners. Now, I serve as one of the Associate Directors of Admission. My role is to assist prospective students and families with the application and financial aid process, bridge and build relationships with community partners and CBOs, and provide up-to-date information regarding admission trends, college success, and changes to the admission cycle. I also serve as a Tartan Scholar Mentor, am affiliated with several ERGs, and am a mentee through the CMWA.
During my term I'll be confident in representing a community that not only encourages diverse voices, but reflects the mission of the institution to advocate, foster a sense of belonging, and create sustainable initiatives that will positively impact that community. Staff are invested in their profession as well as themselves. I believe that I can use my skills to advocate for how staff want to be supported while continuing to strengthen the relationships with staff across campus and departments. I hope to encourage collaboration and transparency so that staff voices are recognized and continuing to grow.
"Every time someone steps up and says who they are, the world becomes a better more interesting place" -Capt. Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
On my first and only trip to London, I was photographed alongside one of the top k-pop girl groups in the world because I didn't know that I was standing next to them. I went to their concert that same night.
