New Student Orientation: Summary

The purpose of New Student Orientation is to introduce incoming Midshipmen to the customs and courtesies of the military including: proper uniform presentation, drill, physical training and bearing, and to transition them from high school students to NROTC Midshipmen.  The New Students participate in various evolutions including the Navy’s physical fitness assessment, swimming qualifications, and team building exercises.  The incoming students receive informational briefs on academic standards, service events, and Unit activities set by the Battalion for the school year.  The final result to strive for is for the New Students to form together as a class and eventually as a Unit to accomplish goals greater than any one person.
