Summer Cruise

Summer Cruise Description

Unlike Navy Option and Marine Option Midshipmen, Nurse Option Midshipmen attend two summer cruises. Following freshman year, Nurses will spend their cruise on a larger ship with medical facilities in order to experience life as a nurse afloat. Senior summer cruise will be spent at a state side Naval Hospital. During this time, Nurse Options will shadow a Navy nurse and experience life at a land-based Naval hospital.

These summer cruises will introduce Nurse Option Midshipmen to the life of the Navy Nurse Corps that they otherwise would not be exposed to throughout their university nursing curriculum. Nurse Options will get to experience treating Sailors, Marines and civilians. These summer training experiences are hands-on learning tools that will help prepare Nurses for life in the Navy Nurse Corps.
