MIDN 1/C Joel Murcek
I am from Jeannette, Pennsylvania, and am pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Entrepreneurship at Duquesne University. I enjoy working out, fishing, hunting, hiking, playing sports, and playing guitar. The summer before my freshman year of college I attended NSI (New Student Indoctrination) where I learned basic military knowledge and bearing. In the summer before my junior year, I attended Marine Month East at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina where I was given basic instruction in small unit leadership, field craft, weapons handling, and rifle qualification as well as being exposed to different Marine Corps MOSs and what they do. My final summer cruise was this past summer when I attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. Here I was able to learn much about leadership and be screened and evaluated in leadership roles. In the Marine Corps, I want to be an Infantry Officer. These officers are given incredible leadership opportunities to serve the finest warriors the nation has to offer.
