Award Descriptions

Merit Award

To recognize an MCS staff member or team who has maintained an outstanding job performance level over an extended number of years and consistently made significant contributions to their department or center and MCS. All staff members who are currently full-time or permanent part-time employees of the College are eligible to be nominated. Award: $1,000 + plaque.

Outstanding Achievement Award

To recognize the achievement of an MCS staff member or team for their substantial achievement and outstanding job performance over the past two years which positively impacted a specific project or process within their respective department or center. All staff members who are currently full-time or permanent part-time employees of the College are eligible to be nominated. The name of the award winner’s department or center will also be noted on their certificate. Award: $250 + plaque.

PLEASE NOTE: Though multiple awards may be given out within the College, only one Outstanding Achievement Award per department or center can be given each year. A single nomination in a department or center does not guarantee an award—the staff person or team must meet the criteria as determined by the awards committee.

Rookie Award

To recognize MCS staff members, employed in MCS less than two years, who have exceeded all expectations in meeting the challenges of their job. All staff members who are currently full-time or permanent part-time employees of the College who have been employed for two years or less are eligible to be nominated. Award: $250 + plaque.

Special Award

To acknowledge a staff member or team from outside MCS who has given special service to our college. (Awarded at the discretion of the MCS Staff Recognition Awards Committee.) Award: $400 + plaque.
