In January, the Mellon College of Science's dean's office welcomed Aimee Dorney as executive assistant to new Glen de Vries Dean Barbara Shinn-Cunningham.
Dorney earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Robert Morris University. She has been with Carnegie Mellon University since 2023, and she worked as Shinn-Cunningham's assistant when she was the head of the Neuroscience Institute. Shinn-Cunningham's tenure as dean began Jan. 1, 2025.
"I'm honored and glad that I was able to help provide her with a smoother transition as she assumed her new role as Dean," Dorney said. "I am especially excited to meet and work with this amazing team at MCS, and to contribute to both the community and the college in every way I can."
Besides working directly with Shinn-Cunningham, Dorney will assist with planning collegewide events. Dorney said that she hopes she can ensure the dean's office continues to feel like a welcoming place for students, faculty and staff. Shinn-Cunningham said that Dorney's skills will benefit the Dean's office.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to have Aimee working with me," she said. "She's gracious, unflappable, and incredibly capable — she makes even the busiest days run smoothly and always keeps things on track. I'm lucky to have her on the team!"
