Provost Jim Garrett announced that Rebecca W. Doerge has been reappointed as the Glen de Vries Dean of the Mellon College of Science.

In an email, Garrett recognized Doerge as a valuable leader for the Mellon College of Science and the university as Carnegie Mellon realizes its long-term vision of revolutionizing science.

He noted that over the last five years, she has innovated the college's educational, research and administrative endeavors. Perhaps most notable is her role in the conception of the future of science initiative that includes the construction of a new $210 million science building that is supported by a $75 million lead grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation, the opening of the world's first academic cloud lab and a focus on strategic areas of scientific research.

"I look forward to continued collaboration with Dean Doerge during her second term as we prepare our students for the future of science and position Carnegie Mellon as a world leader and change agent for science," Garrett wrote.
