Vice Provost for Faculty Search

Dear Members of the Carnegie Mellon Faculty,

As I announced earlier, at the end of her term, Dr. Jeanne VanBriesen will be stepping down as Vice Provost for Faculty. I wish to express again my sincere appreciation to Jeanne for bringing her experience and commitment to the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty.

To assist in conducting the search for the next Vice Provost for Faculty, I have invited a group of faculty to participate in a search advisory committee. I am grateful to Shelley Anna, Associate Dean for Graduate and Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives in the College of Engineering, who has agreed to lead the search advisory committee.

Please join me in thanking the following people for lending their expertise to this process:

While we have received a number of qualified applicants, we will continue to accept nominations for the Vice Provost for Faculty position, including self-nominations, to vpfsearch@andrew.cmu.edu through the end of this week.

As you may recall, the Vice Provost for Faculty serves a two-year term, providing counsel as a senior academic leader who oversees academic policies and offers support and resources to faculty and academic administrators across the university. The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty oversees a number of important programs, including: faculty appointment, review, retention, and promotion; faculty professional development programs; the dual career program; diversity and inclusion programs for faculty; faculty leaves; and Incoming Faculty Orientation.

We look forward to advancing this search.

Sincerely,

Jim Garrett
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
