Description:

Terrorism and targeted violence are not new tactics, but have changed as social media and other newer technologies evolve. What can we do to prevent more tragedies due to domestic attacks within the United States? In this group project course, you will learn about paths to radicalization, strategies to combat hate, and challenges for government intervention. You will form a team to propose your own testable interventions to help reduce the risk of future violence. You will write up your findings as part of a final report with policy recommendations for technology companies and lawmakers. This course is part of the Invent 2 Prevent program from the McCain Institute in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and includes a national competition for cash prizes. More importantly, your ideas could have real-world effects beyond the classroom. If you think something should be done in to make a safer world, this is your chance to contribute ideas and build tools.
