Departmental Waitlist Contacts

The following is a guide to the undergraduate and graduate waitlist contacts and policies of various academic departments. Students who are waitlisted for courses during registration should visit the Waitlist Navigation Guide webpage for a general overview of the waitlist process, then consult this guide to determine how to resolve their status, as policies vary by department.

Students are encouraged to wait at least four weeks following registration to allow departments the opportunity to lower their initial reservations and take a first pass at shrinking the waitlists. Departments have up until the tenth day of class to enroll students from the waitlist, if space permits.

  • Architecture - Waitlist decisions are made by course faculty (CFA 201).
  • Art - Waitlist decisions are handled by Mark Cato, mdcato@andrew.cmu.edu, 412-268-1531.
  • Design - Waitlist decisions are made by course faculty (MMC 110).
  • Drama - Waitlist decisions are made by course faculty (PCA 218).
  • Music - Waitlist decisions are handled by the Director of Student Services, Kate Ganczarz, kganczar@andrew.cmu.edu, CFA 108, in consultation with course faculty.
  • Biomedical Engineering - Waitlists are handled by the academic advising staff. For undergraduate courses (42-1xx through 42-4xx) please contact Kristin Kropf, kgaluska@andrew.cmu.edu. For graduate courses (42-6xx and above) please contact Jessica Ferguson, jfergus2@andrew.cmu.edu.
  • Civil & Environmental Engineering - Waitlist decisions for undergraduate courses are handled by Andrea Francioni Rooney, francioni@cmu.edu, 412-268-9723. Waitlist decisions for graduate courses are handled by Melissa Ritchie, maritchi@andrew.cmu.edu, 412-268-4264.
  • Chemical Engineering - Waitlist decisions for undergraduates are handled by Nora Siewiorek, norann@andrew.cmu.edu. Waitlist decisions for graduate courses (06-600 and higher) are handled by Heather Costello, hcostell@andrew.cmu.edu. Both are located in Doherty 1107.
  • CIT Interdisciplinary - Waitlists are handled by the CIT Undergraduate Studies Office (Scaife 120).
  • Electrical & Computer Engineering - Waitlists are handled by the Academic Services Center, ece-waitlists@andrew.cmu.edu.
